Guided tour of the Vatican

In the guided tour in The Holy City of the Vatican that houses the Holy See, the highest institution of the Catholic Church, you will be able to know the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. You won't have to wait for the endless lines to the Vatican Museums, as it is an added bonus of your visit.

What are we going to visit in the Vatican?

Our tour begins when entering the imposing St. Peter's Square On this guided tour of the Vatican we will visit three of the most important places in Rome.

Vatican Museums: It is an extensive collection of the Catholic Church, it was the private collection of Julius II, Pope in 1503. They show works from an extensive collection of works, sculptures, paintings in galleries ...

During the tour we will visit the Gallery of the Tapestries, the Candelabra Gallery, the Gallery of Maps and the Belvedere Courtyard.

  • The Gallery of the Tapestries:The huge tapestries that cover the walls of this gallery that can even exceed 3 and 4 meters in height, one that groups tapestries from the XNUMXth century of Flemish elaboration and portrays passages from the Gospel and others collect moments from the life of the Popes.
  • The Candelabra Gallery: It receives this name due to the monumental chandeliers and marble columns that are there. This gallery was made under the pontificate of Pope Pius VI Braschi between 1785 and 1788.
  • Gallery of Maps: When entering this corridor, the luminosity of this gallery is impressive. The series of maps that Pope Gregory XIII had painted over the Italian regions makes us travel back in time to this magnificent city. They were made between the years 1580 and 1585.
  • Courtyard of the Belvedere The grandeur of the masterpiece of the architect Donato Bramate, a large elongated patio that makes it essential to visit it. In it you can enjoy his imposing works such as The Bronze Pineapple, The Sphere with Sphere, among other sensational compositions.

The Sistine Chapel: It is the best known Chapel in Vatican City for being the residence of the Pope and is also the seat of the Conclave (a meeting in which the cardinal electors elect a new pope). Its fresco decoration stands out, especially The Creation and The Last Judgment, both works by Michelangelo.

Basilica of Saint Peter: Once inside, there is an overwhelming and peaceful feeling for being the largest and most important religious temple of Catholicism and the church, where the Pope celebrates the most important liturgies. This stands on the tomb of the Apostle Peter.

Due to its large size (it was considered gigantic in its time) it seemed unfeasible, and it was on the verge of succumbing. Its construction lasted more than 160 years and great artists of the time worked on it. For example, Maderno made the façade, Michelangelo painted each of the details of its imposing dome, and Bernini built the square.
