Trips to Nice

Its colorful buildings, its pleasant climate and its relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle make this coastal city one of the favorite for celebrities and visitors.
Nice, famous for its intense blue sea and for enjoying a mild climate throughout the year, is a city of two million inhabitants nestled on the Cote d'Azur and graced with mild temperatures, glamorous beaches and a relaxed lifestyle.
A good part of the life of Nice is concentrated along the Promenade des Anglais, a five-kilometer promenade where Nicaea and tourists flock to enjoy its beaches. When you travel to Nice, you can visit the cafes, restaurants and bars of this busy promenade, get around the luxury cars that circulate along the highway and watch the private yachts that cross the Baie des Anges pass by (Bay of the Angels). Nice is a focus of attraction for rich and famous, from the Queen of England to Angelina Jolie.

Take a walk through the old town, located one block behind the Paseo de los Ingleses and characterized by its mix of art deco and baroque buildings with red roofs and blue shutters. Get lost in its narrow streets, full of traditional restaurants and old churches, mix with the locals and look for fresh produce at the Cours Saleya open-air market or take a break to have a coffee in one of its busy squares. The sidewalks of the old town are full of people eating or dining at any time. When you travel to Nice, you have to try the cuisine of the region, such as “socca”, a chickpea pancake, or “salade niçoise”, the famous typical salad of the city.

On the edge of the old town is the Place Masséna, which is the busy main square of Nice and a good place to walk and watch the people. Visit it at night, when the square and its elements (a work of modern art and a fountain) are adorned with lights of intense colors.

To enjoy the best views of the city, climb the hill located south of the old town: the Castle Hill, which is now a park with ruins, a waterfall and several viewpoints. To get to the top, you can go up the stairs or use the elevator. It is payment, although economic, and works from March to the end of October.

Nice is a city that lends itself to travel on foot or aboard a tram or a bus. Another economic alternative is to use the rental bike system, although you can also rent some skates and do as its inhabitants: walk it by rollerblading.
