Lanzarote island guide (Canary Islands, Spain)
Lanzarote It is the easternmost island of the Canary Islands, it has hardly any trees and suffers from a permanent water shortage, which does not prevent that for many visitors this is the most beautiful of the seven islands due to the shapes and colors that represent it, which, completely counteracts with its volcanic landscape.
Despite the scarcity of rainfall, some crops manage to survive on the black and volcanic soil, which also makes Lanzarote also have a very interesting crop.

How can I get to Lanzarote?
The island of Lanzarote, like any other island of Las Palmas, requires transport by water or air so that we can reach it. The ship and the plane are the only ways through which we can enter this beautiful island, therefore, the time of arrival to it will depend on the place where we are but always, we have to make use of some of these two ways to get to know Lanzarote up close.
What can I see in Lanzarote?
The island of Lanzarote, having a completely volcanic landscape, has some of the most attractive landforms. In a visit to this place, we cannot miss some of the points that without a doubt, you have to discover. Do you dare to know a little more about Lanzarote?
Timanfaya National Park: the volcanoes that once devastated the entire land of this island today provide it with its most lucrative and enigmatic attraction: the well-known Fire Mountains, which are part of the Timanfaya National Park that has been created since 1974 as an idea of protection against the geological heritage . The entrance to the park is to the north of the town of Yaiza.
This park is very famous in Lanzarote and guided tours are often organized by the same agencies and practice groups on the island. In the town of Yaiza we can take a short walk through the heights and see the beautiful landscape as well as take a camel ride for about 15 minutes along the volcanic slopes, from where we can see great views of the park itself.

When we paid the entrance to the Timanfaya National Park, we went through some ghostly ash fields crowned by red-black volcanic cones. To get to Islet of Hilario we have a great well-known restaurant: El Diablo. In this same place, the visitor takes a short one-hour bus tour through the beautiful dreamlike landscape.
The road that connects Yaiza with the coast leads to the Janubio salt flats, where salt is extracted from an old volcanic crater. Nearby are The Hervideros, volcanic vents where the sea roars and snorts furiously. Further north, in El Golfo, lies an emerald lagoon that is beautiful and liked by all visitors.
Mirador del Río: it is one of the most important architectural creations of César Manrique. It is located on the heights of the Risco de Farama and is one of the most visited by tourists due to the fantastic views from this place.
Jameos del Agua : the caves of Jameos del Agua, on the western coast of Lanzarote, arose with the eruption of Mount Corona. Between 1965 and 1968 César Manrique landscaped these routes and turned them into a suggestive complex with restaurants, nightclubs and a beautiful swimming pool surrounded by palm trees and gardens. Going down a staircase you reach a saltwater lagoon where species such as blind white crabs live that glow in the gloom. These animals are fascinating to see and greatly impact tourists.
How to get around Lanzarote?
To move around the island of Lanzarote we can make use of different transports on the one hand, we have the car which is one of the most comfortable ways of being from one side to another through these beautiful lands and on the other we have the taxi.
We can also go by taxi, although to tell the truth, it is much more advisable to rent a car, especially when you go in large groups of friends or as a couple because in this way, you can go stopping by each of the places that you want without having to depend on any external factor.
Teguise It was the capital of Lanzarote until 1852 and it is undoubtedly one of the greatest urban attractions that the place has. It is an old city, well preserved with wide cobbled streets and stately houses that are defined along the church of San Miguel.
The best day to visit it is Sunday, when we find the handicraft market, which is very crowded by tourists and typical dances are also organized around it. At the gates of Teguise we find the castle of Santa Bárbara that houses the museum of the Canarian Emigrant that notably illustrates the island's emigration to America.
The best beaches in Lanzarote

Quemada Beach: located in the Yaiza area, which we have named before, Quemada beach is a quiet and very beautiful place to visit. Although it is not busy, it is one of the most magical beaches that we can find in Lanzarote. Its calm waters make it possible for people to bathe without fear of the waves, it is very good to go with small children, for example and ideal to be with the family.
Playa Blanca: it is a very familiar place with a lot of personality. Playa Blanca is one of the favorite sandy destinations for tourists from around the world. It has many cafes and restaurants where we can stop for a drink and it also has shops, hotels and some bars.
However, the buildings on this beach are scattered on the ground and at night we can find it very quiet. Here, whoever comes, does it to be comfortable, in peace and not to party.
This set is striking because it is full of people who seek tranquility and rest. The most attractive corners are hidden in the east, where we have beautiful coves in which we can bathe without problems.
Lanzarote is a dream volcanic terrain where we can do all kinds of things and enjoy a great climate and absolute tranquility. Ideal for those looking to rest.
