How to get to Pisa

The usual thing is to arrive in plane. The same city has an international airport, Galileo Galilei. More than 20 airlines have regular flights between Pisa and the main Spanish airports. You can choose between several types of airline, there are more luxurious and low cost. The airport is well connected to Pisa (and also with Florence) with train and bus, making it easy to travel to and from the city.

If you prefer the sea, you can also hire a cruise. There are many offers because it is a usual route and you can get a ticket at a good price, especially just before summer or the last fortnight of September.

A great attraction is the tourist bus. This two-story convertible takes you to the main places and monuments of the city. There are two lines with four routes in total. The interesting thing is that you can go up and down as many times as you want to visit the areas through which the bus passes, and if you want to change the route you can do so. And if you want to rest a bit you can go around the tour in 45 minutes. The ticket lasts 24 hours and has a price of 15 €. It is a very interesting option, both for the price and for the conditions.

One of the places where the tourist bus passes is Piazza del Duomo, also known as Piazza dei Miracoli. It houses four huge religious buildings. The famous Pisa's leaning tower It is the bell tower and you can visit it. It was closed for many years, but in 2001 it was reopened to the public after extensive reinforcement works. You can rest assured that you will not fall.

The most of the ancient architecture that you can see in Pisa belongs to religious buildings, since they were the only constructions in which art was allowed to be made. For example, the church of San Pietro in Vinculis or the church of Santa Maria della Spina. Each one belongs to different eras, so the architectural style responds to a different artistic movement. You can not see one and think that you have seen it all, each of these buildings has its particularities, Pisa is a special city.
